People are always skeptical about going on camping trips. This is mainly because there are so many myths surrounding it and some consider it dangerous and uncomfortable. You do not have to sacrifice your comfort to have a great outdoor experience. Here are some tips to ensure that your camping trip goes as smooth as possible.

Preparation.

camping in the nightThe first thing to do before a camping trip is to organize it. Always have a list of the necessary things needed for the journey beforehand. Check off the item from the list once you pack it. This will ensure that you do not forget anything important once you leave.

Do research on the area in which you are going to camp. Make sure you know if there are wild animals in the area and what to do if you encounter one.

Also, check maps to see any landmarks close to the place and familiarize yourself with the area first. This helps in navigation as you go along. Make sure to carry the map too.

Shelter.

Carry a tent that is the best fit for you. Either a one man tent or choose the best one for your situation if you are many people. Carry a thick sleeping bag and a pillow too so that you don’t end up tossing and turning during the night. This can ruin your whole trip. Make sure to pitch the tent before nightfall.

Pick a camp site that is not too close to trees and also has a flat open area near it for cooking. It should be a safe distance away so that the smoke from the charcoal does not get into the tent.

Clothing.

Always carry warm clothing. Hats, socks, and scarves will be a big help. Wear sneakers preferably or other shoes that are comfortable for running and rough terrain.

Fire And Lighting.bonfire

Always look for firewood when it is still bright outside to get the best and driest ones. This will help to start the fire faster. Always bring extra charcoal or wood to ensure you never run out. Also, carry a flash light with extra batteries for use at night.

Food And water.

Carry the proper utensils for an outdoor meal. Preferably cast iron for all the utensils because it is durable and will not break. Carry easily to cook foods such as sausages, burgers, noodles, potatoes, or one pot preparation foods. Saves in cooking and  also cleaning. Carrying lots of clean water for drinking and cooking is mandatory.
